Sarasota County has closed the flooded portion of Beach Road from its intersection with Beach Way to Midnight Pass Road.
Earlier: The flood watch currently in effect for Sarasota County will last through the end of Wednesday Sept. 25, according to a 3:15 a.m. National Weather Service update.
Forecasters predict the heavy rain that plagued the start of the work week will continue with an 80% chance of precipitation today and tomorrow. New rainfall of three-quarters of an inch are possible for both days, according to the NWS.
One-half inch of rain has already fallen in Sarasota, according to Mote Marine Laboratory.
