On Friday, we headed downtown to ask locals their thoughts on the first sign of fall in Sarasota.
“When the stores put up their fall harvest and pumpkins.”
“When people stop wearing bright-colored shirts…? I actually didn’t know we had a fall…”
“I think it’s a little bit of cooler weather that we’re all hoping for.”
“I wouldn’t even know. There’s nothing that actually comes to mind. Maybe it’s the snowbirds coming back down and (Sarasota) getting a little busier.”
“I don’t care about fall. We live in the land of paradise. What do I need to worry about?”
“I’m from Colorado … you don’t buy scarves here … what do you buy? I guess fall means end of the summer sales.”
“When I start to see car carriers, the mosquitoes disappear and I can sit outside on my porch.”

Heron East Assisted Living Facility held its second annual “Senior Prom” last month.
Sarasota nonprofits the Boys and Girls Club of Sarasota County and Big Brothers Big Sisters are hosting donation drives. The Boys and Girls Club’s drive runs from July 21 through Aug. 2 and is accepting clothing, shoes, books and small household items for Goodwill Manasota.

The Alliance Francaise held a fundraiser in honor of Bastille Day, or La Fête Nationale, Monday, July 14, at Marina Jack.
