Pineapple Square expects its newest building, at Main Street and Lemon Avenue, to be complete in about two weeks. The downtown development will then open one of the store spaces to its first tenant, upscale women’s fashion store Eileen Fisher.

The building, which sits across the street from Brooks Brothers and Mattison’s City Grille, had been occupied by empty storefronts and the small office of contractor Ernie Ritz Construction.

It has been divided into four retail spaces. Fisher is taking the largest at about 1,800 square feet. Two other stores will be 1,200 square feet, and one will be 1,000 square feet.

The interior will feature 17-foot ceilings with the building’s original wood two-by-fours.

Pineapple Square developer John Simon said he wanted the exterior to have a rustic appearance.

“We wanted to make it look like a 1920s retail building, so it would blend in with the Downtown Historic District,” he said.

Simon said he’s in talks with several other companies to fill the remaining three retail spaces in the new building, but no contracts have been signed.

Simon hopes Eileen Fisher will open for business in November.
