Riverview graduate Hunter Leeming is headed to the 2011 Junior World Rowing Championships beginning Aug. 3, in Eton, England.
Leeming, a captain for Sarasota Crew during the 2010-2011 season, will be competing in the Men’s 8+ along with athletes from California, Connecticut, Oklahoma, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Maryland. He helped Riverview win the state championship, with gold medals in both the Single and Boys Varsity 8.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Sarasota has sent a rower to the national team. Approximately 600 rowers from 50 nations are expected to compete.

Can you dig it?
Third- and fourth-grade students of Temple Beth Sholom had a chance to brush up on their paleontology skills last week while digging for faux dinosaur bones.
Sound of scholars
Local students Caleb Upton and Matthew Vaadi received some help for their upcoming studies to the tune of $1,000 each from the Sarasota Chorus of the Keys. The scholarships were made possible through the Sheridan E. Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund. Both students plan to use the funds toward a career in music.
