The Meadows Country Club christened its new 125-foot cell tower with a flag-raising ceremony July 3.
The ceremony, conducted by retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Jerry Hilmes, was a symbol of hope.
“We Americans regard (the flag) as a symbol of cherished freedom and a land of justice and honor,” Hilmes said. “I am proud to be in the land of the free and grateful to those who made it so and keep it so.”
The flag was raised by the Alpha Company Flag Detail of the Vietnam Veterans Brotherhood under the command of retired Army Capt. Bobby Martin. A bugler played the revelry.
“Thank you for coming, and God bless America,” Hilmes said.
