There was a stillness in the air — a silence so powerful you could have heard a twig snap outside. And then, one by one, they spoke.
One student said goodbye to her father. Another stated what love meant to her. All of them poured out their hearts.
Sarasota Military Academy held its Beatnik Poetry Café Thursday, May 7. Students submitted their poems anonymously to the teachers for judging, and the winners were then asked to participate in the poetry café.
“And through and beyond this love, there is love. Surely there is love,” said Micah Cole, first-place winner. “A love that stretches this beautiful moment into a thousand immaculate lifetimes.”
