Police are investigating what could be a false report of a kidnapping.
At about 10:30 Friday morning, a woman called 911 to say she had been forced at gunpoint to travel from downtown to an unknown address on Bird Key.
She told the 911 operator that she had locked herself in a bedroom and her abductor was still in the house.
Officers determined the call was coming from the 500 block of Bird Key Drive and responded to the home in question.
The woman was safely removed from the home, and a maintenance worker who was also in the home walked outside and helped with the investigation.
After interviewing the worker and the woman, officers came to the conclusion that no criminal activity occurred. The woman was not injured, and no weapon was found.
