City of Sarasota staff has recommended funding a new program targeting homelessness, according to a March 5 memo from City Manager Tom Barwin to City commissioners.
A staff report recommends adjusting the 2013 fiscal year budget revenues upwards by — at most — $140,000 to fund the Chronic Homelessness Caseworker and Planning Program.
The proposed revenues are broken down to $100,000 to pay for caseworker contracts, $15,000 for supplies and $25,000 for chronic homelessness planning. That would be funded through up to $100,000 in donations from the Sarasota Community Foundation, $20,000 from Sarasota County and $20,000 from the city’s contingency fund.
