Chapman leads contributions in most recent reporting period

With less than two weeks to the March 12 City Commission election, candidates have collected a total of $8,200 during the most recent campaign period.
Since candidates began campaigning in 2012, Dorfman has raised the highest total of campaign contributions, with $37,098. The other candidates have collected (in total): Atwell, $8,299; Lumpkin, $7,875; Holland, $5,383, Chapman, $4,120; and Theisen, $858.76.
Dorfman’s top contributors for the most recent campaign reporting period included four donors in the real estate and construction industry. He also received $200 from the Florida Realtors Political Action Committee. Dorfman also collected contributions from two homemakers and two designers.
Among Chapman’s 40 contributions, 14 came from retired residents. Other contributors included consultants, a travel agent and homemakers.
Atwell’s contributors for the same period also included $200 from the Florida Realtors Political Action Committee. Her four other contributors included two retired residents and a lawyer.
Holland received five contributions ranging from $75 to $200 from one Virginia resident and four Sarasota residents.
Theisen’s $25 contribution came from a Sarasota resident.
Lumpkin’s report did not specify any contributions.
CAMPAIGN UPDATE
The candidates are vying for two at-large seats. Candidates can collect a maximum of $200 from an individual donor.
