Rep. Vern Buchanan will make his first appearance before the Sarasota City Commission Monday, March 1.
Both Buchanan and the commission wanted to discuss what assistance the city might receive from the federal government.
Commissioners just set their five top priorities for the next two years and are expected to ask Buchanan if the government could help the city accomplish those goals.
The priorities include: economic development and recovery, transportation and mobility, maintaining a balanced budget, environmental sustainability and preserving citizens’ quality of life.
