Everyone loves to get a deal.
Websites such as Groupon, LivingSocial and Deali-O offer services, products and meals at great discounts.
In September 2012, Animal Rescue Coalition’s Brenda Terris was on vacation when she saw a Groupon offer for an area non-profit. “I’m big into social media,” said Terris, who quickly looked into how she could get ARC in on the giving.
Terris submitted an application explaining why the organization would be a good deal for Groupon Grassroots, which helps people “discover local causes and lend a helping hand… with one little click."
After Terris’ application was reviewed, she was told that the offer would run on Groupon for one week and people could “buy” in $10 increments.
"I'm tickled because I believe we are the first non-profit Groupon Grassroots in Sarasota," said Terris.
