The Seattle Seahawks’ Super Bowl XLVII victory ended a winning streak for Mote Marine Aquarium manatee Buffett.

Buffett placed his bet on the Denver Broncos Jan. 24, when he swam to a target with the Broncos’ logo. He had picked the Super Bowl winner correctly for six consecutive years. Now, his record is 6-1, following the Seahawks’ 43-8 win against the Broncos.

Buffett’s half-brother, Hugh, had better luck and swam to the Seahawks’ target. Hugh’s record is now 5-2, having picked the correct Super Bowl winner four of the six previous years.

Aside from being sports fans, Hugh and Buffett are the world’s most extensively trained manatees, according to Mote. Training helps their veterinary care to run smoothly and allows the manatees to participate in research about their senses, such as hearing and touch, and about their physiology.
