Sarasota City Commission to honor Ken Thompson

The Sarasota City Commission will honor the service of Ken Thompson, who served as Sarasota’s City Manager for 38 years. In honor of his service in this position, the longest in Sarasota history, the commissioners will name the day after Thompson.
Takes place Friday, Feb. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the History Center Museum, 701 N. Tamiami Trail. Event will include refreshments and bagpipers. Free. Call 364-9076.
