Sarasota City Commission candidates begin campaign fundraising

The latest campaign treasurer’s reports for City Commission candidates for the period ending Dec. 31 are in.
Six candidates are vying for two at-large seats. The election is Tuesday, March 12, with a runoff election May 14, if necessary.
Candidates can collect a maximum of $200 from individual donors. Thus far, the candidates for the at-large seats have collected:
Suzanne Atwell: $1,275
Susan Chapman: $4,050
Richard Dorfman: $7,570
Linda Holland: $725
Kelvin Lumpkin: $3,825
Pete Theisen: $100
In addition to donations, some candidates have taken loans to help fund their campaign. Thus far:
Dorfman: $7,569.35
Atwell: $2,500
Hollan: $500
Theisen: $236.82.
