+ Tidewell Hopice CFO earns executive credential
Gerry Radford, chief financial officer of Tidewell Hospice, qualified as a certified hospice executive. The program is only available to hospice, home-care and senior managers with significant experience in the field.
Candidates are required to read books on leadership, strategic thinking and organizational management, and must also complete various classroom studies such as legal and compliance issues and financial management, the process of which can take up to one year.
Radford joins the select number of leaders who have attained this credential, recognizing the highest level of knowledge and achievement in hospice administration.
+ Tibbals Learning Center building to expand in January
A ground-breaking ceremony slated for late January will celebrate the addition of 24,475 square feet to the existing Circus Museum’s Tibbals Learning Center building at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art.
The addition includes 12,000 square feet of exhibition space and 12,000 square feet of storage space and will feature interactive and creative galleries that celebrate the history of circus performances.
Construction-management firm Willis A. Smith Construction Inc., Fleischman-Garcia Architecture and California-based West Office Exhibition Design have been selected to complete the project.
+ USF professor awarded for outstanding publication
Dr. James Unnever, associate professor of sociology at the College of Arts and Sciences at USF Sarasota-Manatee, received the Donal A.J. MacNamara Award for his article, “Racial Discrimination and Hirschi’s Criminological Classic: A Chapter in the Sociology of Knowledge,”which appeared in Justice Quarterly.
Unnever, along with his colleagues, Drs. Francis Cullen, Scott Mathers, Timothy McClure and Marissa Allison, was selected by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences Executive Board and Awards Committee as recipient of this award, which is given once a year.
”It is a great honor to have my research nationally recognized by other scholars,” said Unnever. “I appreciate having my article judged to be the best in 2009.”
