The Sarasota YMCA hosted its 23rd annual Y Achievers Recognition Breakfast Wednesday, June 5, at Michael’s On East. The YMCA awarded $100,000 in scholarships to 43 students, including high-school seniors heading to college and current college students receiving a renewal scholarship as they continue their education.

The day was overcast as Out-of-Door School librarian Glendy Huene and 90 staff members walked towards the library from their end of the year school meeting Wednesday, June 5 for a surprise reception and library name unveiling. A family donor gave the school two new signs renaming the library to the Glendy Huene Library/ Media Center for Glendy Huene’s retirement after 30 years at ODA.
Women's Exchange gives back to the arts

Women's Exchange will award $257,000 in grants and scholarships Thursday, June 6 through June 19 of Sarasota and Manatee counties local arts and cultural organization and to 32 students.

Riverview High School seniors attended their graduation Saturday, June 1, at Robarts Arena. Friends and family occupied every single seat in the arena, while others stood as 650 graduating seniors walked across the stage to accept their high-school diplomas. This was Riverview’s 54th commencement.
