Eight years ago, Walter Bladstrom, Elliott Metcalfe and Tom Smith organized a small luncheon at the Marina Jacks restaurant, with only 14 people in attendance. The celebration has since grown to more than 100 people, who range from age 26 to 96.

The cruise, now in its 18th year, was dedicated to Bertha Palmer and Owen Burns, who arrived to Sarasota 100 years ago, in 1910.
