The women of Sarasota meandered up and down Main Street and drifted in and out of stores littered with pink-and-white balloons. “Girl’s Night Out,” a party held Friday, Aug. 27, in the 1400 block of Main Street, invited women to indulge in shopping, spa services, entertainment, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and gift bags. The next Girls’ Night Out event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24.

From the side-by-side water slides to the water-park jungle in the middle of a giant pool, kids and their parents had a great time taking advantage of all the entertaining activities Selby Aquatic Center had to offer Friday, Aug. 20. The park, located at the Evalyn Sadlier Jones YMCA branch, hosted its popular end-of-summer "Splash Bash" that included water-related games, such as a sponge race, food provided by Lee Roy Selmon's and — for a cool treat — sno cones in a variety of flavors.

Not only does the church offer educational lessons that teach obedience, joy, listening and baptism, but, following the lessons, children also engage in activities such as outreach projects for Haiti, puppet shows, tie-dye making, water play and even creating nativity scenes out of clay.
