The Casey Key Association hosted their annual picnic Sunday, April 7 at the Nokomis beach pavilion to get together with community members. “It is great for people to get to know one another in a relaxed atmosphere,” said Steven Lee. “We love Casey Key and support it.” Butchers Gourmet served dinner to 145 community members and Bryan Spainhower played Spanish guitar.

Students, faculties and football fans filled the New College athletic field Sunday, April 7, as Ringling and New College played the tiebreaking game of their annual flag football match. New College defeated Ringling College 19-18, after which, Ringling President Dr. Larry Thompson was exiled to a dunk tank, and team captain, Hunter Thompson shaved his head.

Nearly 1,000 runners hit the beach Saturday, April 6 to help endangered turtles at Mote Marine Aquariums Run for the Turtles on Siesta Key Beach. The 5K sanctioned by the Manasota Track club and the 1-mile fun-run/walk provided major support for Mote Marine Laboratory’s Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program
