The Sarasota Garden Club hosted a celebration cocktail reception for Sue Angle Sunday, April 14 to congratulate her on her induction as President of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs. Ruth Linsley painted a logo for Angle and members mingled and congratulated her. Angle said Federation of Florida Garden Clubs or FFGC actually stands for “finest friends that God created.” With almost 14,000 garden club members in Florida Angle looks forward to helping out the various communities.

The Laurel Park Neighborhood Association put on the 20th Tunes in the Park Saturday, April 13 to get the community together. Big Night Out performed Latin music while neighbors mingled and danced. Community members brought dishes for a potluck and Sarasota City representatives came out to show their support.

The Out-of-Door Academy, Cardinal Mooney and Sarasota Christian boys and girls track teams competed in the Class 1A-District 10 meet April 11, at ODA. The top four finishers in each event earned a berth in the Region 3 meet April 18.

Nancy Schlossberg, cofounder of both the Institute for the Ages and the Winter Forum moderated the discussion, which included Tiger Bay Club members Tom Esselman, CEO of the Institute for the Ages, Harry Hobson, president and CEO of Plymouth Harbor and John Overton, CEO and president of the Pines of Sarasota.
