The Women’s Guild of St. Michael the Archangel finally had enough of driving over the Siesta Key bridges to purchase religious articles and gifts. Members took it upon themselves to organize the first Catholic gift shop on Siesta Key and last April, opened Keys to Heaven.
“We have special gifts for pairings, baptism, weddings and seasons,” said guild member Margaret Haviland. “We’re happy to accommodate for last minute items or to supply holy water.”
Store hours are 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Fridays; 3 to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays; and 8:30 a.m. to noon, Sundays.
The church will host its annual Christmas Gala, “Dance the Night Away,” from 5:45-10 p.m., Dec. 12, at the parish hall, 5394 Midnight Pass Road. The evening will feature the George Carroll Jazz Big Band, and proceeds will benefit the St. Michael’s Catholic Faith Appeal. Tickets are $50 per person or $95 per couple.
