Happy birthday, Morton's!
The whole Morton family gathered Thursday, Nov. 5, at their neighborhood market to celebrate its 40th anniversary. The family, surrounded by employees and friends, talked about 40 years in the business and enjoyed a beautiful cake with supporters, including their first customer, Fran Dietz. Patriarch Ted Morton was in attendance as well, despite a recent stay in the hospital.
"We have been so successful due to our great customer base and employees," Eddie Morton said. "We have another generation coming, so we're ready for 40 more years."
Reveling in the success of the family-owned business was son and co-owner, Todd Morton: "We have been successful in keeping a good balance of keeping with tradition and keeping up with the trends."
Morton's Gourmet Market will be keeping the 40th anniversary celebration going for the next week and will host its annual "Holiday Affair" from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11. Chefs will be serving holiday treats and vendors will be displaying items sold around the holidays. Tickets are $5, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting All Faiths Food Bank.
