Prospective owners and foster parents for dogs and cats will have the opportunity to attend an adopt-a-thon from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Animal Services facility, 8451 Bee Ridge Road.
The adopt-a-thon, sponsored by Sarasota in Defense of Animals, provides prospective parents with the opportunity to adopt a dog or cat at a reduced cost that includes spaying or neutering.
Foster parents are also needed for animals that are either too young for adoption or have medical or post-surgical issues. Animal Services will cover the cost of all food and veterinary needs for the duration of the foster care. Some experience with animals is required.
Prospective parents can also search for adoptable animals on the Sheriff’s Office Web site at www.sarasotasheriff.org/animal.asp. For more information, call the adoption desk at 861-9523.
