Lee Fox, director of Save Our Seabirds Bird Hospital and Bird Sanctuary on City Island, released a female bald eagle at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, from Laurel Oaks, in Sarasota.
The eagle was brought to the bird hospital with an abscess in her neck. She was discovered a few weeks ago at the edge of a lake and was exhausted and underweight.
Save Our Seabirds, 1708 Ken Thompson Parkway, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. everyday. Admission is free.
