Diversity: The Voices of Sarasota will present its spring concert, "Diversity Sings for the Cure,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Sarasota Opera House.
“Sing for the Cure” incorporates the pain, the struggle, the hope — and even the humor — of dealing with breast cancer in a way that impacts audiences on both an emotional and spiritual level.
The concert will include songs of patriotism, Broadway showtunes and the celebrated work, “Sing for the Cure,” a musical journey taking listeners through the emotions experienced by breast-cancer patients and their loved ones. Local philanthropist and breast-cancer survivor, Bambi Famous Kaine, will narrate the concert.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer's 10-year anniversary walk, to be held Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Sarasota Polo Club, 8201 Polo Club Lane, Lakewood Ranch.
General seating tickets are $25; VIP seating and the pre-concert reception, which includes cocktails and appetizers at the Bijou Café, costs $75. For information, call 957-0404 or visit www.diversitysarasota.org.
