Police find missing swimmer's body

The Sarasota Police Department recovered the body of a 19-year-old man 200 yards off of Lido Beach Sunday, June 16.

The Experimental Aviation Association taught children about aviation and took them for a flight Saturday, June 15 at Dolphin Aviation for the Young Eagles Program. Each third Saturday of the month the EAA Chapter 180 invites kids ages 7 to 18 to participate in Young Eagle Rally day. Pilots taught kids about aviation safety and how they communicate with towers for take off and landing. Kids had their photo’s taken and were given a Young Eagles Certificate.

The Sarasota Area Sports Alliance hosted Sports Spotlight Thursday, June 13 at the Courtyard by Marriott Sarasota Airport to unite the Sarasota area sports community. Vice president of the Suncoast Charities for Children and the director of the 29th Annual Super Boat Grand Prix Festival Lucy Nicandri and race team members spoke to community members about the festival and their experiences. Approximately 40 people attended.

The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce held their monthly networking breakfast Thursday, June 13 at Millie’s Café to for local businesses to catch up with one another. Approximately 30 people attended the breakfast where they enjoyed fruit, coffee, bacon, bagels and other breakfast foods. The chamber gave away raffle prizes, which included tickets to the Tampa Bay Rays vs. Kansas City Royals game on Friday, June 14.
