On Wednesday, Dec. 12, the city will host in-state candidates for the position of finance director.
Several interviews are scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 13.
Sarasota expects to name a new finance director before the City Commission’s Jan. 7 meeting. Current Finance Director Chris Lyons announced his retirement due to health reasons in September.
Lyons was finance director for the past five years, and he helped prepare 23 fiscal-year budgets as a city employee.
Recently, he led efforts to cut city costs and reform pensions. The tough budget years will continue, as property values stabilize.
