Local restaurants earn Golden Spoon awards

Florida Trend Magazine announced its 2010 Golden Spoon award winners.
On Longboat Key, The Colony Dining Room and Maison Blanche were recipients of the Golden Spoon awards. Receiving the honor in Sarasota were Derek’s Culinary Casual, the Ritz-Carlton Sarasota and Selva Grill.
Euphemia Haye, on Longboat Key, and Michael’s On East, in Sarasota, are members of the Golden Spoon Hall of Fame. Euphemia Haye first earned a Golden Spoon award in 1993 and was named to the Hall of Fame in 2003. Michael's On East has been receiving Golden Spoon awards since 1991.
Libby’s Café + Bar, in Sarasota, received a Best Newcomers award.
Mattison’s three restaurants in Sarasota and Bradenton, owned by Paul Mattison, were honored with a Golden Brand award, a new category that honors the best restaurant chains.
Also honored by the magazine was Longboat cooking legend Marcella Hazan, who earned one of the new “Florida Icons” awards.
