Binjara Traders re-opened Friday, Dec. 4, at 362C John Ringling Blvd., on St. Armands Circle, three weeks after smoke damage from a Nov. 13 fire damaged its entire inventory.
The new location is across the street from the women’s clothing and jewelry store’s old spot at 327 John Ringling Blvd.
According to owner Cleon Dixon, who was in Australia when the fire occurred, the fire began in Binjara Traders’ upstairs storeroom. The cause of the fire is unknown. Dixon plans to move back to the old location after the building is rewired.
“Hopefully we’ll get the original one up and running as soon as possible,” she said.
Dixon said the fire destroyed $160,000 in merchandise, which was replaced by insurance.
