A 45-year-old Sarasota man burst into a Denny’s restaurant Sunday night and threatened customers and employees before trying to grab cash out of the register, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
John Giles, of 2055 Doud St., attempted to rob the restaurant at 8214 S. Tamiami Trail, sheriff's office reports state.
Deputies arrived, but Giles allegedly did not give up easily. He had to be subdued with a Taser.
He was charged with attempted robbery, resisting arrest with violence, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
