Selby Gardens will hold its Family Extravaganza Wednesday, Nov. 27 through Sunday, Dec. 1. Families are invited to the Anne Goldstein Children’s Rainforest Garden to enjoy arts and crafts, games and fun hands-on activities.
The event offers different activities every day, such as a visit from Save Our Seabirds and Big Cat Habitat. Other activities include storytelling, free painting classes and children can even make pinecone turkeys for Thanksgiving.
The Family Extravaganza runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 10 a.m. to 1p.m. Actitives will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving day.
Admission is free for members; $19 for adults; $6 for children ages 4 to 11 and free for children under 3.

Third- and fourth-grade students of Temple Beth Sholom had a chance to brush up on their paleontology skills last week while digging for faux dinosaur bones.
Sound of scholars
Local students Caleb Upton and Matthew Vaadi received some help for their upcoming studies to the tune of $1,000 each from the Sarasota Chorus of the Keys. The scholarships were made possible through the Sheridan E. Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund. Both students plan to use the funds toward a career in music.
