Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts in Sarasota County gathered 10,902 pounds of food from local households for the hungry Saturday, Nov. 14, as part of the Annual Scouting for Food Drive.
The food collected was taken to church pantries and to the All Faiths Food Bank.
“The Boy Scouts raised 2,711 pounds of food this year for our organization,” said Dan Dunn, executive director for All Faiths Food Bank. “This food will provide more than 1,800 meals to the many hungry people of our community. We commend the Boy scouts for being such an active member of our community and for their long history of honoring that commitment.”
