Featuring narration by John McCarthy, history buff and director of Sarasota County Parks and Recreation, the Historical Society of Sarasota cruised Sarasota Bay Sunday aboard the Le Barge. The cruise, now in its 18th year, was dedicated to Bertha Palmer and Owen Burns, who arrived to Sarasota 100 years ago, in 1910. In the following video, John McCarthy gives the scoop on the history of Sarasota in just two minutes. Look for the story in this week's edition of the Sarasota Observer.
