The SCAT bus system is eliminating a bus route profiled in The Sarasota Observer nearly two years ago, because it only averaged four riders per day, but cost $165,000 per year to operate.
Route 21, also known as the Englewood Loop, will be shut down Oct. 31, because of that poor ridership.
SCAT announced in June 2008 that it would ax the Englewood Loop, but it has continued to operate.
