Tennis great and Sarasota resident Monica Seles will receive a key to the city at Monday’s City Commission meeting.
In her career, Seles won 53 singles titles, including nine grand slams. She was inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame earlier this year.
Seles, 35, is originally from the former Yugoslavia. Her family moved to Florida when she was 12, so she could attend the Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton.
Keys to the city are presented to citizens whose life and achievements have had a positive and significant impact.
