This week we went in the kitchen with owner Peter Van Der Noord and chef Ezequiel Gramajo at the Riverhouse Reef and Grill for some Gulf seafood pasta. The Riverhouse Reef and Grill is located at 995 Riverside Drive, in Palmetto, and features fresh local fish, certified Angus beef steaks and original martinis.

• 1 ounce olive oil
• 8 bay scallops
• 5 jumbo shrimp
• 5 PEI mussels
• 2 ounces Chablis wine
• 4 ounces marinara
• salt and pepper
Put olive oil in a sauce pan over medium high heat. Add scallops, shrimp and mussels. Saute with Chablis wine for about 5 minutes, making sure the mussels open. Add marinara, and cook until all is hot. Finish with salt, pepper, basil and Parmesan to taste.

Sound of hope
The holiday season hasn’t officially started until our favorite bell ringers return to their posts.
Shoppers and residents were treated to some holiday harmonies by the Senior Friendship Centers’ group, the Second Wind Harmonica Players, in Downtown Sarasota.
