The owners of the South Trail property on which the closed Longevity Cafe sits are seeking to expand their parking lot.
Ted and Georgia Nicholoudis, Bradenton, have a new restaurant tenant at 1737 S. Tamiami Trail, and they want to create a larger parking area for it.
The couple also owns the home at 2043 Arlington St., which is directly behind the restaurant property, and is seeking to tear it down to make more parking space.
To do so, though, they need to request a zoning change. Their agent will go before the City Commission this evening. The change would be from the RMF-3 residential zone to commercial neighborhood district.
City staff is recommending commissioners approve the change. The Planning Board gave its approval July 28.

The holiday season hasn’t officially started until our favorite bell ringers return to their posts.
Shoppers and residents were treated to some holiday harmonies by the Senior Friendship Centers’ group, the Second Wind Harmonica Players, in Downtown Sarasota.
Stepping up to the plate
The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota County teamed up to bring the anti-bullying event Rachel’s Challenge to Sarasota Dec. 3.
