STORE AROUND THE CORNER: Fairy Tails Boutique

There’s something to be said about walking into a shop that makes you want to grab everything — especially the two adorable dogs behind the counter — and run. From its selection of ornate jewelry and snazzy flats and sandals to chic pet fashions and travel carriers, Fairy Tails Boutique is that kind of place.
Owner and Siesta Key resident Camille Bell owes the inspiration for Fairy Tails all to Beau, her Chinese Crested-Chihuahua mix.
“When I held Beau, it was love at first sight,” Bell said. “I created a job where I could pretty much have him with me the whole time, and Siesta Key really needed something that catered to dogs. If you go outside in the morning, people are cycling and running up and down the streets with their dogs, but there’s absolutely nothing for dogs here. I’ve been driving up to Fruitville just to get dog food.”
Bell, originally from England, has traveled to dog boutiques all over the world, taking notes and photographs of her favorite products. The store is chockfull of collars, leashes, toys, bowls, holistic foods and treats and even polka-dot lifejackets.
“I really like to have more unique things that people haven’t seen before,” Bell said. “I have a lot of European vendors coming in over the next few months. I’ve got the ‘human’ side of the store as well, because it’s something different.”
For her two-legged customers, Bell offers jewelry, T-shirts, belts, wine, hats and Indian slippers. She just returned from Las Vegas, N.V., where she purchased Steve Madden handbags and watches, and a variety of men’s belts and wallets.
“My favorite part is being around the dogs all day,” Bell said. “But the boutique is also a good destination for gifts around the holidays, not only for dogs but also people. I can’t wait for season.”
