Sarasota voters head to the polls today to decide nearly a dozen key primary races and referenda.
Voters will choose their party’s candidate for governor, U.S. senator, U.S. representative, attorney general, county commissioner, hospital board and charter review board.
The winners of those races will go on to face the winner of the opposing party’s primary in November if there is a candidate from the opposing party.
Several nonpartisan races will be decided in the primary, including three school board members and a county judge.
One school board seat, district one, has three candidates, Dr. Carol Todd, Dr. Joseph Neunder and Barry Woolf. If the leading candidate does not garner 50% of the vote in the primary, the top two candidates will face off in a runoff in November.
The polls will be open until 7 p.m. this evening.

- Why is it this counrty gets so caught up in issues of Round -abouts
Specifically painting directional signs on St Armands (which only confuse the first time drivers here) . They should have left well enought alone!
Get a life will ya. There is no ligitimate through lane on a circle. Whereever you enter. The proper way is to enter and get over to the outside lanes to exit.
So how can you enter from the mainland in the right lane and properly exit to the beach without jaming up the whole cirlce.
this is ridicklous!
The town and highway department traffic planners instead of improving the situation of traffic flow around this circle Yes, traffic Circle aka fancy Round about all have the same problem
These planners who are supposed to understand this subject. obviously have this problem instead.
