- I sat by the couple who lives across the street from the old lift station after lisenting to them I drove by to take a look. All I can say is living with that mess is a sentence to hell. The smell, the mess the construction activity has taken over what was once a charming historical neighborhood. To think one third of the City's sewage is going through there including the toxic matter emanating from the Sarasota Memorial Hospital. There are no polite words to describe this mess.
