Business owners in the Rosemary District have found common ground they plan to leverage to turn the once-blighted neighborhood into a destination: design.
The Sarasota Design District, drawing inspiration from a similar area in Miami, is made up of at least 20 firms ranging from architects to flooring stores. Home Resource owner Michael Bush spearheaded the launch of the new merchants group.

- As a seasonal resident of the Rosemary District, I am so pleased at this development. We want to reiterate that walking, biking and shopping in our neighborhood is very safe. We walk to theatre (Players, West Coast Florida Black Theatre), restaurants (e.g.Pomona, Savory, Darwin's, Station 400, Blue Rooster, Lolita Tartine, H2O Cafe at Indigo Hotel, Toasted Mango), Galleries (e.g. Madeby) and there are a number of interesting businesses already operating in the district. We believe this new entity will encourage more creative viable businesses to open shop here.
