Bring your pup to Five Points Park Saturday for the Dog Dayz of Summer Pet Costume Parade.
Registration is from 9 to 10 a.m. and it costs $5 to register a dog. The parade will begin shortly after 10 a.m.
The Sarasota Downtown Merchants Association is sponsoring the event where dogs will be judged on best costume.
The first place winner will receive gift certificates worth $250 for downtown merchants, second place will receive gift certificates worth $80 and third place will receive gift certificates worth $40.
Positively Main Street will play music for the pups and their owners. Dogs can cool off in pools around the park when they get too hot and owners can cool off with a popsicle from Paradise Pops or refreshment from Bubble Tea.
Community members will receive free giveaways and their pups can munch on free doggy treats. The Animal Rescue Coalition, Grey Hound Rescue and Camp Bow Wow will all be there.

Sound of hope
The holiday season hasn’t officially started until our favorite bell ringers return to their posts.
Shoppers and residents were treated to some holiday harmonies by the Senior Friendship Centers’ group, the Second Wind Harmonica Players, in Downtown Sarasota.
