Sarasota police arrested a man July 15 for allegedly slapping and spitting on a woman he said cut off the car he was in traffic the day before.
Thomas Mizell, 40, was a passenger in an SUV that was traveling along Fruitville Road. Mizell and the driver, David Wilson, thought a woman driving alongside them cut them off.
Sally Born told police that she was in her car on Fruitville Road, when the SUV cut her off and followed her until she stopped at the traffic light at Tuttle Avenue.
She said Mizell got out of the SUV, opened her passenger-side door, grabbed a visor and sunglasses off her head, slapped her in the face and spit on her.
Born got the tag number of the SUV, and officers tracked down Wilson, who said Mizell told him that he hit Born. Police then found Mizell and arrested him for battery and burglary.
