SARASOTA — Although the election is more than a year away, Sarasota County Commissioner Christine Robinson has filed the official paperwork to run for her District Three seat.
Technically, it’s not a re-election, because Robinson, a Republican, was appointed to the commission.
As one of his last acts in office, former Gov. Charlie Crist placed Robinson in her commission seat last November, replacing the retiring Shannon Staub, who had two years left on her term.
Robinson is not the only candidate to declare for the November 2012 election. Democrat Jennifer Cohen is also running.
Cohen had also applied last year to replace Staub.
