From the minute you walk in the door, the rest of the world seems to fade away. Tucked into a quaint Victorian house with a white picket fence and wraparound veranda on Osprey Avenue is Melody’s Centre for Authentic Beauty.
The niche boutique specializes in rejuvenating the skin through customized facial treatments that use 21st century, non-invasive methods to improve the texture, tone and health of your skin. It also offers massage and body therapies, makeup application and lessons and waxing.
Owner Melody Murray decided not only to change the boutique’s name after 28 years but also to relocate from University Boulevard to a new home on Osprey Avenue. The boutique will host its grand opening Sunday, Dec. 4.
“The highlights of what makes Melody’s different is that we’re rejuvenating the skin using the latest technology without wounding or invading the body,” Murray said. “Because I’ve been in the business so long working with the skin, I came up with protocols that are able to take the evidence of time away. We can transform the skin without using harsh acids or lasers for middle-age women who are starting to see the slacking of the skin, wrinkles and pigmentation. It allows the body to rejuvenate naturally.”
Murray is gearing up to launch the boutique’s newest facials in 10 days — for feet. The concept is the same as a regular facial but applied to the feet.
The soothing and relaxing “footal” is waterless and uses the latest ingredients, without the scraping or buffering that causes thickening of the skin, and is offered in a private room. A five-point system is applied during the footal: cleanse, soften, repair, nourish and pamper. The boutique will also begin carrying a new nail polish guaranteed to last two weeks without chipping.
“I’m definitely a woman’s advocate,” Murray said. “I believe women need to be there for each other. We wear so many hats during the day and that’s OK — but we need to fill our pitcher up and be invested in so we can pour into each other’s lives more effectively.”

- No sound on the you tube. I checked on another site and my sound is working. Maybe she said what she charges for the foot rub?
