The grandson of a daycare owner has been arrested for sexually abusing a 5-year-old boy at the daycare.
The crime happened in October 2008, at Sandy’s Family Childcare, which is run out of a home on Vena Drive, east of Interstate 75.
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, Mark Dungan-Carpenter, 21, is not officially listed as a daycare employee, but he lives in the home, and his grandmother occasionally paid him to watch the children.
The sheriff’s office is working with the Department of Children and Families to identify other potential victims.
