This year, the theme of Sarasota’s Memorial Day parade and ceremony is “Never forget.”
Coordinated by the Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee, the Venice Area Veterans Council and Sarasota County’s Veterans Benefits Unit, the parade starts at 10 a.m. Monday, May 25, at Main Street and Osprey Avenue.
Marching units for the parade, which will travel west on Main Street to Chaplain J.D. Hamel Park on Gulfstream Avenue, will include veterans services organizations and civic organizations, fire departments and their color guards, law-enforcement agencies and historical military equipment.
Following the parade will be a ceremony at J.D. Hamel Park with guest speaker Lt. Col. William Brockman, of Sarasota Military Academy.
