- There will be gridlock on US 41, if another route is not found to get to I 75. Is anyone aware of all the traffic during season????
- “I tried walking across Fruitville (at Lemon Avenue) the other day,” Ritz said. “It is a very narrow crosswalk. Cars are going by at 50 mph. And it is not the best gateway into our town.”
What did he do - try to cross when the light for cars on Fruitville was Green? When the light for cars is Red, and the WALK sign lights up, then it is the time for a pedestrian to cross - and at that point there are NOT cars going by at 50 mph.
Great idea to connect Rosemary to Downtown however, EXCEPT, as mentioned, a nightmare for traffic on Fruitville. It backs up now for blocks with cars trying to turn left onto 41 - but at least the right lane moves. Cutting to one lane will just create backups for everyone!

Can you dig it?
Third- and fourth-grade students of Temple Beth Sholom had a chance to brush up on their paleontology skills last week while digging for faux dinosaur bones.
Sound of scholars
Local students Caleb Upton and Matthew Vaadi received some help for their upcoming studies to the tune of $1,000 each from the Sarasota Chorus of the Keys. The scholarships were made possible through the Sheridan E. Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund. Both students plan to use the funds toward a career in music.
