The City Commission is expected today to approve nearly $1 million toward the construction of three roundabouts.
First, commissioners will vote to accept $727,720 in state and federal funding for a roundabout at Ringling Boulevard and Palm Avenue.
The total cost of the roundabout is $800,000. The city will pick up the remaining $72,280.
Construction on that roundabout is scheduled for late this year.
The second commission vote is indirectly tied to roundabout funding.
Commissioners are being asked to approve an additional $226,733 toward the contract for the bayfront-connectivity consultant. The money will go toward the planning of phase one of the connectivity plan, which includes the construction of U.S. 41 roundabouts at 14th Street and 10th Street.
If approved, the total contract for the consultant, Trans Associates, would be $619,309.

- Dear City Commissioners, I implore you not to approve the installation of a round a bout at 41 and Ringling Blvd. How do you expect to avoid a massive traffic tie up at that intersection. I wont forget who not to vote for next election. William Greene
