First, Sarasota renames City Island, then Mayor Dick Clapp jumps into a shark tank, now Mattison’s City Grille is getting into the Google mania.
The downtown restaurant will host this evening a Google Island pep rally with a free performance by recording artist Lindsey Ray.
Owner Paul Mattison has temporarily renamed his business Mattison’s Google Grille.
All the Google-ness comes from a new program from the the Internet giant in which it will find a location somewhere in America to test a new Web service that could bring customers Internet speeds up to 100 times greater than they’re currently getting at home.
City and county officials believe if Sarasota County is chosen, it would be a boon to economic development.
The pep rally begins at 5 p.m. at 1 Lemon Ave. Mattison’s will serve Google themed drinks and dinner specials.
The Sarasota High School Google cheerleaders will also be on hand to “boost the Google spirit.”
Ray will perform at 7 p.m. at Mattison’s. She’ll also hold a free concert on Google Island at 6:30 p.m., March 25.
